The Multidimensional Molecular Spectroscopy group at the Photonics institute of the TU Wien in Vienna seeks a postdoctoral researcher for the FWF-funded project „Octave spanning pulses for 2D electronic spectroscopy”. Employment will start as soon as possible and will last for one year with the possibility of extension for another year. Salary is according to FWF’s standard personnel costs for postdocs.
Responsibilities include the design and conduction of ultrafast spectroscopic experiments such as 2D electronic spectroscopy, heterodyned transient grating and transient absorption, as well as project planning and reporting, co-supervision of students and communicating results to the scientific community through publications and presentations. While the main focus of the position is on experimental work, close collaboration with project partners in theory will be essential for the interpretation of the results.
The Multidimensional Molecular Spectroscopy group pursues fundamental research in the field of ultrafast dynamics in complex biological and artificial systems. Details can be found under http://www.mumos-group.com/.
A Ph.D. in physical chemistry, experimental physics or related fields is a requirement.
Desired skills are:
• Experience with ultrafast laser technology such as amplified laser systems and home-built non-collinear parametric amplifiers.
• Experience with ultrafast molecular spectroscopy, ideally with 2D electronic spectroscopy.
• An in-depth understanding of non-linear spectroscopy, ideally with experiences in data analysis techniques such as global (target) analysis or modelling based on the response function formalism.
Applicants are asked to submit a motivational letter, containing a description of their previous research activities and how they link to the above project, a CV describing relevant skills and education, a list of your publications, and contacts for two academic references to [log in to unmask]
Application deadline: November 30, 2015, or until filled.
