Dear MCGers,
Danny Birchall and I have written a piece for the Guardian Culture
Professionals network on 'How digital tech can bridge gaps between museums
and audiences' (
http://www.theguardian.com/culture-professionals-network/2015/oct/23/digital-technology-museums-audiences-collaboration
). This piece was inspired by the presentations that will be given on
Monday at the British Museum, which in turn were a response to your posts
and conversations over the past year or two. So you can all pat yourself on
the back for your contributions to a conversation across the sector!
We are also excited to share information about our closing panel with you.
Given our theme this year, we’re experimenting with something more
participatory than a closing keynote in a session designed to help
translate the day's presentations into something you can take back to your
own career, projects and workplace. Invited respondents will give their
thoughts on the day’s papers - perhaps themes that emerged between papers,
questions they had about how to translate presentations into the real
world, or ideas from their own sector - followed by an invitation for
attendees to share their questions and comments on 'bridging gaps and
making connections'. Our invited respondents are *Gillian Greaves* (Arts
Council England), *Joseph Padfield* (The National Gallery),* Kim Plowright*
(@mildlydiverting) and *Ben Templeton* (Preloaded) - and you!

I'm really excited about the programme we've put together, and I'm
incredibly grateful to the MCG Committee, UKMW15 Programme Committee, all
our speakers, chairs and respondents, and the British Museum for all their
work. Finally, thanks to our sponsors Beacontent!
Cheers, Mia
