Hello all
Apologies for the late posting summarising my findings.
First of all a big thank you to all those that kindly responded to my post in late August relating to the tagging of stock. You have all been very generous with your time and insight.
Some people asked for a summary overview so here it is:
The outcome for how long the process would take is that it takes on average one minute to tag 2-3 books/items.
People on average had team/s of up to 4 people working on the job at any one time.
Some institutions used extra casual staff, others used existing staff members and others outsourced the tagging work. It seems that the higher the number of books needed to be tagged the more likely the work was outsourced/done by temps.
To tag items you’ll need a barcode reader, a tag pad (which usually is a pad and a box which links to the software via USB), and a computer with the tag software installed. Mobile RFID Tagging stations were used preferably and in general these were provided by the institutions RFID vendor free of charge.
I hope this helps out and do contact me if you need any other information
all best
Laura
