PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Please find attached a press release from RCNi announcing that the nursing agency Medacs Healthcare has purchased the RCNi Portfolio to help its nurses comply with revalidation.
This release was originally sent last week but has been amended following discussions with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) – the body responsible for regulating nurses and midwives – and in light of tweaks to the revalidation process, the final version of which is expected to be announced this week.
RCNi would like to clarify that while we consulted the NMC during the development of the RCNi Portfolio, this should not be taken to mean that the NMC collaborated in its development or in any way endorses the product. The NMC has also asked us to point out that although it recommends that registrants maintain a portfolio, there is no requirement for the information to be stored electronically, or for nurses and midwives to upload or 'export' such information at any stage of the revalidation process. We are happy to set the record straight and request that the previous version of the release be removed from any websites etc and be replaced by the version attached.

RCNi Portfolio now available to Medacs Healthcare agency nurses
Leading healthcare recruitment company enters into partnership with RCNi to support their agency nursing staff through revalidation
London, October 12 2015: Medacs Healthcare has signed a three-year agreement with RCNi for its nursing staff to have access to the RCNi Portfolio, a simple tool designed to help nurses comply with the revalidation requirements soon to be introduced by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Medacs Healthcare provides locum, temporary and permanent healthcare staff to the public and private sectors. Revalidation is due to take effect in April 2016 and will involve nurses demonstrating that they are keeping their knowledge and skills up to date, while practising in line with the NMC Code. As part of the process, nurses will have to undertake continuing professional development (CPD), some of it in conjunction with other registrants.
Speaking of the agreement, Trish Davison, Operations Director of Medacs Healthcare Nursing said: "We are pleased to be working with RCNi. All nurses and midwives will be required to undertake revalidation every three years and, as part of the process, will need to build a body of evidence that includes reflective accounts, a log of practice hours and proof of CPD activities carried out in order to keep their skills current.
"To help make this task as smooth as possible for our agency nursing staff, we wanted to find a resource that was comprehensive in its offering, easy to use and above all would help to make the revalidation process as straightforward as possible. The RCNi Portfolio met all our criteria and we are looking forward to rolling out the solution to our nursing professionals."
RCNi Portfolio combines in a single site a tool through which nurses can collect the evidence required for revalidation. Uniquely, it incorporates e-learning resources that support continuing professional development, including CPD articles and questionnaires to test users' knowledge. Users can also record their reflective accounts, hours of practice and hours spent on CPD activities, and so monitor progress towards their revalidation goals.
RCNi Portfolio has been developed and will be regularly updated in line with any changes to the NMC's guidance on revalidation.
Rachel Armitage, Managing Director at RCNi, said: "We are delighted to be working with Medacs Healthcare as a valued partner.
"The onus is on individual nurses to meet the NMC's revalidation requirements, but employers will play an important role in supporting their staff. By making a solution such as RCNi Portfolio available, Medacs Healthcare will help its nurses remain focussed on providing excellent care at the same time as keeping their skills and knowledge as up to date as possible."
