italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

Gentili colleghi,

- Le nuove fonti per la storia della Resistenza;
- Divulgare la Resistenza;
- L’altro fronte della guerra civile: Rsi e collaborazionismo;
- Memoria della Resistenza ed uso pubblico della storia;
- Le altre Resistenze in Europa, per un approccio comparato;
- La Resistenza e l’identità di genere;
- Resistenza, giustizia e violenza

a. un curriculum studiorum con un elenco delle eventuali pubblicazioni scientifiche;
b. Un abstract di max 500 parole che illustri brevemente i temi della ricerca proposta e le sue originalità;
c. Una bibliografia sull’argomento e, soprattutto, l’elenco delle principali fonti archivistiche adoperate;

Comitato organizzativo: Andrea Martini, Federico Melotto, Emanuela Boscariol

Call for Papers

Resistance and Civil War. Sources, Stories and Memories.
Verona, April 5-6, 2016

Deadline for submission of proposals: November 15, 2015

The TeSIS Department (Time, Space, Image and Society) of Verona University together with the Verona Institute for the History of Resistance and Contemporary Age (IVrR), with the collaboration of Anpi Veneto, are organizing the conference Resistance and Civil War. Sources, Stories and Memories, which will take place in Verona on 5th- 6th April 2016.
At the end of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the Liberation, the two-day conference will give the opportunity to take stock of the researches regarding the 1943-1945 period; at the same time, different generations of scholars will be compared.
First of all, the conference means to give PhD students and postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to present their own studies by illustrating a project that will be afterwards discussed by and with experts. Furthermore, some of these experts will present their own researches during the conference, in order to enhance the young researchers' body of knowledge and make them take new hints for future studies.
We are here below proposing some significant topics related to the initiative:
- The new sources of Resistance history;
- Spreading of Resistance history;
- The other face of the civil war: Italian Social Republic (Rsi) and collaboration with the enemy;
- Memory of Resistance and public use of history;
- The other European Resistances and a comparative approach;
- Resistance and gender identity;
- Resistance, justice and violence.
These are only some of the suggested guidelines. Nevertheless, further topics can be presented and discussed.
The 'Call for Papers' is open to PhD students, history researchers and students with another cultural background. Only proposals of under 40-year-old researchers will be taken into consideration.
Candidates are asked to submit the following documents by 15th November 2015:
a. a résumé with an account of any scientific publications;
b. an abstract of maximum 500 words shortly summarizing the topics of the proposed research and its peculiarities;
c. a bibliography on the topic and the list of the main sources that have been used in producing the research.

The above-mentioned papers are to be sent to the following email address: [log in to unmask]
The proposal can be written either in Italian or in English.
The Scientific Committee will select candidates by 15th December 2015.
The selected researchers will have to submit their own papers by 29th February 2016.
The papers can be written either in Italian or in English. More detailed information about the length of the paper will be given during the selection.
Conference participants are asked to know both Italian and English.
No participation fee is required. The selected researchers will be provided with board by conference organizers.
Scientific Committee: Federica Bertagna (Verona University), Filippo Focardi (Padua University), Santo Peli (Padua University), Gustavo Corni (Trento University), Federico Melotto (IVrR Director).
Organizing Committee: Andrea Martini, Federico Melotto, Emanuela Boscariol.
