Dear Colleagues,
As many of you are already aware, the HITRAN spectroscopic database can now be accessed and browsed through the convenient online interface called HITRANonline which is hosted at www.hitran.org . There are many new features that are available now. Although the new interface is relatively self-intuitive, it is advantageous for users to know the extent of functionality of the new website. We, therefore, will offer a free live video tutorial this coming Monday (October 26th, 2015) at 10 am EST (local time in Boston, MA, USA) on how to retrieve the data, visualize it, create user-defined profiles, and access data that was not previously available through the conventional 160-character .par formats (including, for instance, additional broadening and shift parameters due to the pressure of planetary gases).
This video tutorial will be streamed through the following link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jO08ly_odMM
It will be easier to follow the tutorial if you register for the use of HITRANonline at www.hitran.org. The registration is free and only name and e-mail are required fields, although we would appreciate (but not require) information on your affiliation and your research interests.
There is no need to preregister for the tutorial itself, but we will appreciate if you will let us know if you plan to participate. Also, you can let us know if there is any particular aspect you would like to be covered in the tutorial.
Best wishes,
The HITRAN group
