Anyone interested in dementia, alzheimers, age-related issues, and/or living
in the Greater Manchester area, might find this very useful. Dawn is a
well-respected leader in this field, and I know that many churches are
looking to become 'Dementia friendly' - hopefully some other faiths and
worship centres might also find it of value!

> Let's Talk About Dementia Conference
> Dr Dawn Edge, Senior Lecturer & Winston Churchill Fellow, The University
of Manchester & New Testament Church of God, Old Trafford
> Friday, 23 October 2015 at 18:30 - Sunday, 25 October 2015 at 13:00
>
> 'Let's talk about dementia' is a FREE public event which aims to increase
knowledge and awareness of dementia and improve access to early diagnosis
and care. Currently there are 18,000 people living with a diagnosis of
dementia across Greater Manchester and a similar number who do not have a
diagnosis and therefore are not accessing any support.
>
> This event is being held by the New Testament Church of God (NTCG) Old
Trafford with the University of Manchester as a 'Faith & Dementia'
conference. NTCG has a vision of becoming a 'dementia-friendly' church and
supporting the wider community. All are welcome, particularly Black and
minority ethnic (BME) group members. The conference is open to people of all
faiths and none.
>
> The event is a chance for people in the local communities to talk about
dementia - the impact on them and their families and what services they
would like to see generally. We specifically want to hear what people
believe the church can do to help. The conference will also highlight
opportunities for participating in research and show how these studies can
increase our understanding of dementia and deliver better treatments and
improved quality of life. There will be the chance to train as a Dementia
Friend, help create Dementia Choir and to share what your priorities are for
research.
