Probably worth clearing out some of ~/adam, maybe you have some old
rendezvous files in there already that cannot be removed (as Tim says
these will be the gaia_XXXXX/ directories). Permissions can be a problem
for these files, so you could check using "mkfifo" that all is well in
~/adam.
