Dear all,
I'm please to announce the recent release of my book SCÉNARIO ET SCÉNARISTE addressing the question of the institutional recognition of the screenplay and the screenwriter in France's world of art.
ABSTRACT
In this work, the screenplay and the screenwriter make up one object. In France, its valorization poses a challenge. In tackling the question of the institutional recognition of the object of study in the French filmmaking world, this thesis addresses the social mechanisms and instances of legitimization which influence the cinematographic milieu. To achieve this, the analysis transposes large portions of Howard S. Becker's art world theory to the examination of the institutional recognition of the object of study. If we can consider the screenplay and the screenwriter as constitutive elements of a chain of cooperation that takes place during the creation of a film, the objective of the present work is to demonstrate that the type of institutional recognition that surrounds the object of study can also be related to a chain of cooperation that links a large number of members of the world of cinematographic art.
SCÉNARIO ET SCÉNARISTE (LettMotif, 2015) is the published version of my Master's thesis (Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 University).
The book is in French and available for purchase on the publisher's Website :
