Liverpool: Astronomy Distance Learning and Engagement Developer
(6 months fixed term contract)
The Astrophysics Research Institute at LJMU has an extensive and
well-regarded programme of innovative teaching and public engagement.
We are looking for an enthusiastic communicator with a background in
astronomy, physics or a related discipline to join the team to support
the development and delivery of our Distance Learning courses
(www.astronomy.ac.uk), the National Schools' Observatory
(www.schoolsobservatory.org.uk) and Outreach programme
(www.astro.ljmu.ac.uk/outreach).
You would work closely with the NSO and Distance Learning teams,
developing materials for learners of all ages. The ideal candidate will
have a keen interest in science communication, education and astronomy
and a relevant scientific background. Experience of the development of
web-based and multi-media educational materials is desirable, but there
is considerable flexibility in the role to match a wide range of skills
and experiences.
This is a full-time, 6-month fixed term post at GBP 31,342 - GBP 37,394
per annum. The closing date for application is 30th September 2015, with
an anticipated date for interviews of 12th October (though it may be
possible to be slightly flexible about this). Starting date will be as
soon as possible after interview.
