EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Transforming Musicology project <http://www.t-mus.org/>, in
collaboration with the Semantic Media Network project
<http://semanticmedia.org.uk/>, will be hosting a seminar and
"hackathon" on the subject of early instrumental music in October
2015.
Both events will be held at Goldsmiths College, New Cross, London. The
seminar will be on Thursday 8 October 2015 and the Hackathon on Friday
9 October 2015.
The topic of the seminar will be digital approaches to studying early
instrumental music, especially covering the topic of networks in early
music history. Speakers will include Katherine Butler (Oxford), Tim
Crawford (Goldsmiths), Laurent Pugin (RISM), and Frans Wiering
(Utrecht). Attendance at this seminar is free, but booking is

To complement this seminar, the Linked Music Hackathon is an open
event at which a variety of music data sets focusing on--but not
limited to--early instrumental music will be made available to
participants to explore and experiment with. These include, as well as
images of early printed music from Early Music Online, the
recently-released metadata for the British Library's vast collection
of printed books and music, and a selection of data concerning music
literature and scholarship kindly made available by RILM

London. Travel by train to New Cross or New Cross Gate station. Both
