30 September 2015, Venue: Royal Geographical Society, Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London, UK
The Centre for Economic Policy Research is setting up a Financial Regulatory Initiative. This is designed to encourage and coordinate academic research on the design of financial regulation. Currently, much of the regulation that is being done is not based on a sound academic framework and much work is needed to create this. There are currently five work streams in the initiative: (i) Banking and Capital Markets; (ii) Long Term Financing of Industry; (iii) Insurance; (iv) Real Estate; (v) Household Finance. The first workshop will be held on 30 September 2015 in London and is designed to introduce some of the important topics to guide policymakers in designing financial regulation. We hope to have an audience of academics, policymakers and practitioners. The preliminary agenda is below. If you would like to attend this event please register at:

There are limited funds to cover expenses for attending this event so PhD students and junior faculty are particularly encouraged to apply for these. Applications should contain a CV and a budget outlining the funds needed and should be sent to Franklin Allen at [log in to unmask] prior to 15 September. Please forward this announcement to anybody you think may be interested in attending.
