Hi Danny I am sure you already have thought about this but transducers on the inside of the window covered by vinyl stickers on the outside could work, you would then need something like an Arduino running a little comparator gate-ish like program filtering out superfluous taps from the other near by sensors as they would read as weaker. In this way you could build a pretty good "D-pad" and a few other buttons that could then be translated in to key presses for whatever you like.
