UKMap Project Manager
Full Time (37 hours per week) Permanent Position
Salary: In the range £26,000 to £30,000 p.a. depending on experience
Due to the growth of UKMap, the large-scale mapping suite, The GeoInformation Group is seeking a project manager to oversee the existing UKMap team. The key responsibilities of the role include the day-to-day management and quality assurance of the UKMap digitising team’s work, active involvement in the UKMap editing and update process, providing support to the Technical Director and the ability to offer technical solutions where necessary.
You should have a good level of GIS knowledge, with practical experience of using ArcMap software, and it would be desirable to have a knowledge of FME software as well as project management skills and relevant experience.

Job Purpose: The UKMap Project Manager’s role is to lead a team of GIS staff undertaking the data collection, processing and publishing of the UKMap database, as well as contributing to the process themselves. The project manager sits on the UKMap Project Board, regularly reporting on progress and working with other members to set targets and strategies for future UKMap updates and developments. In addition the project manager may be involved in the production and management of other bespoke projects, based around UKMap data.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
• Degree qualified (preferably in a geography/GIS discipline)
• Ability to work as part of a team and act as a team leader providing inspiration and direction
• Strong IT Skills – in particular, working with databases from an end-user and production perspective
• Strong GIS Skills – experience with ESRI, MapInfo, and FME
• Knowledge or experience of using and interpreting aerial imagery
• Good people skills and a confident communicator, able to listen and provide feedback
• Able to work co-operatively with a positive attitude
• Methodical, neat, fast and accurate worker, with a keen eye for detail
• Self-motivated and well-organised
