Dear All

Apologies for the radio silence over the last twelve months but I was keen to reconnect with the group having recently joined the Higher Education Academy. We currently have a number of vacancies including the Academic Lead for Employability following the retirement of Maureen Tibby. If anyone would like to know more about this role or any of the others please contact me directly. Details can be found below and you can find the full job description on our website.

Many thanks.

Best Regards

Doug Cole
Head of Academic Practice

Academic Lead Roles x 4 (Assessment & Feedback, Employability, Staff Development, Retention & Attainment)

The HEA are looking to recruit four new roles to support the Head of Academic Practice. These roles will provide specialist academic expertise, leadership and management to develop, promote and manage the delivery of customer-led products and services that ensure that the HEA’s operational plan is delivered successfully and income targets are met. It is envisaged that the Academic Leads will be directly responsible for a small number of products and will have related sales targets.

The Academic Leads will work flexibly and collaboratively in thematic and discipline areas to support the HEA’s role in informing UK sector-wide learning and teaching policy and supporting institutions, discipline communities and individual academic and professional services staff.

The Academic Lead will:

•	Be an expert in the thematic area with a profile and existing network in the sector
•	Direct the development and delivery of customer-led products and services in an efficient and effective manner
•	Develop and manage relationships with key sector experts for external validation
•	Recruit and manage delivery teams to include Associates, HEA Fellow and National Teaching Fellows
•	Facilitate the sharing and promotion of best practice both internally within the HEA and externally in the sector
•	Create and manage communities of practice to test, validate and promote current and new thinking on specific areas of focus
•	Be active members of key sector networks on specific areas of focus
•	Keep up to date on and actively pursue relevant external funding opportunities
•	Commission research where appropriate to support an evidenced based approach to the HEA offer
•	Develop and foster partnerships with external bodies where appropriate
