We know those types of investigations always favor the police department,
Bovell told the Daily News.
.
At a press conference scheduled for Sunday, McDoles family will plead for
answers and information.
.
McDole was shot several times by police as he sat in his wheelchair on a
residential street in Wilmington on Wednesday. The incident was captured
in a graphic video posted online.
.
Police said they recovered a .38-caliber handgun next to McDoles body. His
family contends that he was unarmed.

wheelchair

New cellphone footage allegedly shows Delaware police officers in a fatal
encounter with a man in a wheelchair on Wednesday. The officers had
responded to a call reporting that the man had shot himself. A relative
called the death an execution.
.
The video allegedly depicts the grizzly shooting of Jeremy McDole, a
28-year-old African-American who was sitting in a wheelchair, by three
white Delaware police officers.
.

.
The police officer continues to yell at the man, demanding that he show
his hands and repeatedly shouting, Drop the gun, with bystanders yelling
in chorus Drop the gun.
.
Two more police officers arrive on the scene and also shout Drop the gun
several times.
.
Off-screen, a mans can be heard saying Put your hands up, cus. They shot
his ass.
.
The police officers continue shouting for McDole to show his hands, then
the camera zooms in and blood can be seen around McDoles neck area. He is
gently rocking back and forth in the wheelchair, moving his hands along
his legs but not raising them. Police, meanwhile, keep yelling for him to
put his hands up.
.
The footage then narrows to show just McDole, and the police officers are
no longer visible. A volley of at least 7 shots can be heard.
.
McDole then slumps left, rolls out of his chair and falls to the ground,
with blood visible on the front of his body.

In the video, police demand Jeremy McDole to drop the weapon or show his
hands a dozen times.
.
Then four officers fire their weapons, hitting the wheelchair-bound McDole
several times.
.
"When Mr. McDole began to remove the weapon from his waist, the officers
engaged him and as a result of the injuries Mr. McDole sustained, he lost
his life," Wilmington Police Chief Bobby Cummings said.
.
Police responded to the 1800 block of Tulip Street around 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday after receiving a report that the 28-year-old McDole shot
himself.
.
Investigators say a .38 caliber weapon was recovered near McDole's body.
.
It's unclear if he did indeed shoot himself prior to police.
.
An autopsy has been completed, but results have yet to be released.
.
Just steps from the officer-involved shooting, relatives gathered Thursday
to remember McDole. Gov. Jack Markell, the city's mayor and the police
commissioner were also in attendance for the vigil.
.
Relatives call the use of force unjustified.
.
"You can clearly see on there, this is overkill and for someone to be in a
wheelchair and you can't handle this better than the way you all did it? I
don't understand it," relative Gene Pennewell said.
.
"I think it's wrong because he was paralyzed from the waist down. They
didn't have to shoot him. If he did something, they could have Tased him,"
aunt Marceline Congo said.
.
Gov. Markell called the video "troubling", adding he has confidence in the
investigation being conducted by the Wilmington police and the State
Attorney General's Office.
