Dear all
I forgot to copy the link in my previous mail: apologies for the
inconvenience caused.
Please find the link of the article that discusses social inclusion of
people with disabilities: a case from Nepal's decade long civil war:
Scandinavian journal of disability research
http://www.tandfonline.com/eprint/ydQZFhJIzhctQeTWenCF/full
When insurgency occurs,s in one hand, many disabled people are badly
affected and on the other, several people acquire impairments and
become disabled.
However, we have not come across studies exploring the social
inclusion and living conditions of people acquiring impairments,
particularly in developing countries. This paper, though written as a
qualitative one, thus attempts to contribute to this academic gap, by
providing a perspective on people with disabilities from Nepal's
decade-long civil war while looking at issues such as possible
disability-based discrimination that they face and whether legal
provisions that are in place to protect them are effective.
This study was done prior to conduct quantitative survey on the same issue.
Fortunately, yesterday, Nepal's constitutional assembly endorsed its
new constitution for which thousands lost their lives and several
people became disabled: and it is a co-incidence that my paper is
published exactly on the same date that Nepal got its new
constitution.
