Ditto - I second this! I've had some experiences where I've felt absolutely terrible inside, and very nervous, and afterwards been told that it's come across very well... I say this only to encourage us all that there isn't necessarily an equation between how you're feeling, and how well it goes! I try to remember that no one can see my feelings, and that a smile goes a long way to appearing confident!
Having said that, I have usually done multiple practices in front of the mirror. Even when I'm using notes I try to memorise some bits in the talk so that I know there will be times I'm confident to look up and speak out.

Subject: Re: [CIG-E-FORUM] Preparing to present
I find it really helpful to know that I donıt have to feel OK about something in order to to it well. What everyone else has said about preparation really comes to the fore here, but, honestly, if I waited to feel confident about public speaking - or about anything - I would just sit in the corner all day staring at the wall!
So when I feel scared (as I always do), I tell myself no-one cares how I feel, no-one even has to know how I feel. I just have to put one foot in front of the other and one word in front of the other and do it.
And, after all, itıs only 15 minutes, or 30 minutes, or 50 minutes out of life!
