Would those members in the UK please pass this on to PhD students who may be interested.
Dear CPN Members,
We are happy to announce that applications for the new executive committee of the China Postgraduate Network 2015-2016 are now open.
There are two positions available:
• President
The two main responsibilities are: (1) representing our community of postgraduate students at quarterly council meetings of the British Association for Chinese Studies, and (2) convening the Annual Conference of the China Postgraduate Network. The President also supervises all business relating to the CPN over the course of the year.
• Secretary
The primary duty of the Secretary is the administration of CPN memberships and maintaining the CPN website. The Secretary also assists the President in organizing the CPN conference.
Ideally, you will be based in the UK throughout 2015/2016, but it is possible to take on one of these positions if you will be abroad for a short period only and can maintain email access. Experience is not essential; our old team members will provide support and advice when you start.
All postgraduate students registered at British universities and involved in Chinese Studies are eligible to apply. Wherever you are from, whatever academic discipline you represent- participating in the CPN will give you a unique opportunity to engage with senior members of the academic community, build connections with research and funding institutions, and develop your organizational and leadership skills in preparation for your future career. It’s also a wonderful way to meet fellow young researchers and build a supportive and productive community of young China scholars here in the UK.
If you are interested in either of these positions, please complete the attached application form and return it to:[log in to unmask] by September 30, 2015. We will announce the results shortly afterwards.
Jon Chappell
CPN President
