Girton College is seeking an Archives Assistant. Girton College has a unique history as the first residential college for women offering degree level education. The College went mixed in the 1970s and today the College is a vibrant and forward-looking community. The Archive collects the records of the College, the personal papers of members of the College, and records relating to the history of women, in particular the education of women. Our collections are used by researchers worldwide.
We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with good attention to detail to help preserve and make these valuable collections accessible to researchers. Duties will include answering enquiries, supervising visiting researchers and undertaking preservation projects.
The successful applicant is required to work 20 hours, within Monday to Friday (hours of work to be agreed) and would ideally take up the post in late October.
