Kowal and Land have published recent books studying the activists working with the indigenous populations in their home country. The event will be moderated by Professor Elizabeth A. Povinelli, chair of the anthropology department at Columbia University.

Emma Kowal is Associate Professor of Anthropology at Deakin University, Melbourne. She has also worked as a doctor and public health researcher in Indigenous health settings. Clare Land is a trained Historian and Sociologist/Critical Social Worker and Research Fellow at the Gary Foley Koori History Archive, Victoria University, in Melbourne, Australia. She is the author of Decolonizing Solidarity: Dilemmas and Directions for Supporters of Indigenous Struggles (www.decolonizingsolidarity.org).
