Statistician / Epidemiologist (120229)
Grade 6: Salary in the range of £27,057 to £32,277 per annum
We are seeking to recruit a Statistician/Epidemiologist to join the Musculoskeletal Epidemiology Unit at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), based in the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.
You will be undertaking a leading role in the statistical analysis of data from electronic medical records, including the National Joint Registry, the UK Hospital Episode Statistics database and Clinical Practice Research Datalink, and the Spanish SIDIAP data. You will therefore require expertise in regression modeling techniques, methodology to handle missing data, time series analysis and clinical risk prediction. Duties will include contributing to existing and new research projects such as writing bids for research grants, as well as contributing to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
You will have an MSc in Statistics (2:1 minimum) together with experience in biostatistics, knowledge of medical statistics, and expertise in statistical packages such as R, SAS, Stata or SPSS. You will also be computer literate and self-motivated with excellent communication and organisation skills. Experience of working with electronic medical records/routinely collected data would be desirable, as would experience of working in an academic environment.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 2 years in the first instance.
