Open position: Post-Doc position for an interdisciplinary project in man-machine interaction, University Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine of the Childhood and Adolescence, University of Magdeburg, Magdeburg, Germany
The University Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine of the Childhood and Adolescence of the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg is offering
Post-Doc
(Salary level 13 TV-L, full-time, limited to 3 years)
for the project EMOADAPT (supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, BMBF)
The goal of the interdisciplinary project EMOADAPT is the further development of a brain computer interface that allows emotions to be recognized by the computer in real time and implemented in the interaction between man and machine. For detection and identification of emotional changes in the human-machine interaction, imaging techniques (functional magnetic resonance imaging), EEG and classic peripheral psychophysiological parameters should be combined. The interaction between humans and machine takes place in virtual reality scenarios, which are to adapt in real time to emotions/dispositions of the user.
Position description:
The overall task is to provide the psychological basis for the project, mainly development and evaluation of psychological and psychobiological measures of emotional processes occurring during the dynamic human-machine interaction. Part of the work includes integrating according parameters and personal profiles into virtual reality scenarios mimicking man-machine interactions as well as how emotions may modulate according dynamics interactions. The work will be in close cooperation with an interdisciplinary group (Prof. Dr. Johannes Bernarding, Department of Biometrics and Medical Informatics (OvGU), Prof. Dr. Eva Brinkschulte, Institute for History and Ethic in Medicine; Dr. André Brechmann, Special Lab Non-Invasive Brain Imaging of the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology).
Your profile:
The candidate should hold a degree (Diploma/Master) and a doctorate in psychology or neuroscience. The candidate should have experience in projects working with emotion processing, and should be familiar with functional imaging and / or psychophysiological research methods. Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration is expected.
