Dear all
interesting responses, perhaps one could reflect further on the question ...
(Danny Birchall's question I found intriguing even if not entirely clear, for example what would constitute a transporting or shift or migration of medium, and how would "medium" be understood, e.g. "video" as in < a longitudinal video art project that shifted from VHS to digital video> ? ...whereas the example given >Grand Theft Auto series of video games, which made the shift from a 2D game to a 3D game>
was not illuminating to me at all, but - yes- I don't play video games/computer games and so have no reference knowledge of what shifted there.
The reference to shifts and developments in interactive media and performance art interests me especially now when the opposite might be the case (saturation with interactive technology leading to de-emphasis on such programming, or
downscaling, de-digitizing and re-analoging). In my last workshop at Metabody Platform in Madrid, we almost abandoned interactive design but tried to come up with some forms of sensing (dancer as "conductor", metal sheets we placed n space, and architecture, as transmitter) that were more sensual and tactile for us. I guess I am here speaking of (media art) experiments in conductivity but these have implications for choreography, pro-active architecture design (we work with Hyperbody at TU Delft), fashion/costume design, and music/sound compositional constellations.
best wishes

ah yes, excellent - and indeed the Anarchive collection overall (http://anarchive.net/) bears witness to some pretty vigorous trans-porting of electronic media over a couple of decades (including of course the wonderful Muntadas piece...)

Perhaps something as simple as a longitudinal video art project that shifted from VHS to digital video; or maybe something where interactivity came to the fore as new technology became available.
