Dear Colleagues –
We bring to your attention an opening of permanent academic (faculty)
positions at the department of Chemistry, the University of Sheffield,
UK, at a lecturer/senior lecturer/reader/professor level.
Applications are welcome in any field complementing existing research
strengths of the Department; applications in the fields of (i)
medicinal or biological chemistry; (ii) electrochemistry; (iii) solar
energy / photophysics are particularly encouraged.
Details and guidelines:

Further information in addition to the above:
We are presently building a state-of-the-art laser laboratory funded
by the EPSRC/the University, which brings under one roof diverse
capabilities in ultrafast electronic and vibrational spectroscopy. A
10 KHz, ~40 fs laser system will be used to feed several detection
stations, initially including: (i) transient absorption spectroscopy
in the UV/Vis (potential to expand to NIR); (ii) Time-Resolved
Infrared spectroscopy, 2DIR and transient 2DIR; (iii) broadband
fluorescence upconversion and time-resolved resonance Raman
spectroscopy; further developments will be welcome. This laboratory
will be a shared resource available for any type of research.
The Department of Chemistry has state-of-the-art photophysical
characterisation techniques, including steady-state fluorimeters,
time-resolved emission set-ups, NIR emission spectroscopy, singlet
oxygen detection, resonance Raman spectroscopy, and a host of
nanosecond lasers.
The University has advanced emission imaging capabilities (Kroto
Centre, http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/kroto/research) including recent
super-resolution microscopy developments
(http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/faculty/science/facilities/lmf).
If you have any questions regarding equipment and facilities, please
do not hesitate to contact us.
