The Division of Cinema and Media Studies at the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California invites applications for a tenure-track open-rank position in American film and media history, expected to begin on August 16, 2016. We will consider a broad array of theoretical and methodological approaches. Possible areas of specialization include, but are not limited to: studio history, archival methods, histories of representation, media archaeology, censorship, and star studies.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. at the time of appointment and should demonstrate excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of offerings related to American film and media history, from introductory undergraduate lecture courses through graduate seminars. Interested candidates should provide a cover letter, curriculum vitae including names and contact details for three references, and one sample of recent scholarship.
