Dear all,
With apologies for cross-posting, please find below a Call for
Participation in a hands-on workshop on iBeacons which will take place on
the 26th August at Newarke Houses Museum in Leicester.
The workshop is organised by the *Leicester Castle tells its story* project,
which is funded by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts to explore the
potential of iBeacon-based mobile interpretation in historic sites.
The day will involve talks and Q&A sessions on iBeacons and how we used
them at the Castle, as well as a practical, hands-on session where you can
design your own iBeacon tour using Locly's platform.
If you are interested to find out what iBeacons are and how they work, have
ideas for mobile tours that could be based on iBeacon technology, or have
other experiences of iBeacon applications and projects, please do bring
them along and/or get in touch.
Below you can find details of how to sign up for the workshop. For any
further questions please feel free to email me ([log in to unmask]).
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Giasemi (on behalf of the Leicester Castle project team).

*iBeacon-based Interpretation for Heritage Buildings*
*Potential Adopters Workshop*
*26 August 2015*
Newarke Houses Museum, The Newarke, Leicester, LE2 7BY
*Call for Participation*
The Digital R&D Fund for the Arts project *Leicester Castle tells its story*
has developed an iBeacon-based mobile interpretation system for Leicester
Castle, using Locly’s iBeacon content management platform. The
interpretation is available for visitors as a mobile app that runs on iOS
and Android Bluetooth Low Energy-capable devices.
The workshop will explore the potential of the technology in other heritage
buildings and sites. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about
iBeacon technology, try out the Castle app and see it in action, explore
its potential, and have a go at designing their own iBeacon experience
during the afternoon hands-on session.
The workshop is free of charge. To book a place, email the organisers (see
contact details below) with ‘potential adopters workshop’ in the subject
line and a few words about your interest in iBeacons and how they relate to
your current and/or future work. Places are limited, therefore please book
early to avoid disappointment.
