Dear Colleagues,
To help increase understanding of the ways in which written and audio evidence can be analyzed to provide forensic evidence for use in the criminal justice system, the Germanic Society for Forensic Linguistics (GSFL) is devoting an entire day of its annual Roundtable to students and emerging scholars. On the 4th of September, attendees will receive instruction and insider-tips from some of the biggest names in Forensic Linguistics today. Just a few of the guest speakers include the following.
DR. MICHAEL JESSEN (Bundeskriminalamt, the German version of the FBI): in addition to being on the Editorial Board for the International Journal for Speech, Language, and Law, Jessen is one of the leading forensic phoneticians operating in Germany.
DR. DOMINIC WATT (York University): a senior lecturer in Forensic Speech Sciences, Watt has consulted with British law enforcement on numerous criminal cases involving violent offenders throughout the UK.
DR. ROBERT LEONARD (Hofstra University): a trusted consultant for international law enforcement agencies around the world, Leonard’s work with the FBI has helped to capture and successfully prosecute several serial rapists and murderers in the USA.
