COLLECTIONS LIBRARIAN (BOOKS AND COURSE MATERIALS)

Library Services are seeking to appoint a Collections Librarian (books and course materials) to oversee the running and development of the Book and Course Materials section of the Collections team. The main responsibilities will include:
The direct line management of the Collections Librarians and the book acquisition Information Administrators. In addition, you will contribute to the development of strategies and policies for improving access to information, as well as managing, monitoring and reviewing local practices and processes to deliver customer satisfaction and value for money. Key to success in this role will be your ability: to build on your existing specialist knowledge and expertise, to establish good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and to be self-motivated, reliably delivering work to agreed timeframes.
You will have:
• Professional qualification in a library/information related subject via various CILIP approved routes.
• Evidence of CPD, such as working towards:
- Chartered membership of CILIP
- A management qualification e.g. Institute of Leadership and Management (Level 5 or above)
- A Teaching qualification, e.g. PGC(HE), Foundation in Teaching and Learning
• Good organisational skills and can demonstrate broad based administrative experience in a professional or specialist service in a large complex organisation, e.g., Higher Education.
• Proficient in at least two of the following areas of specialist knowledge: digitisation, ebook management, resource discovery and description, licensing, authentication, document supply, book acquisition, copyright.
• Experience of providing professional advice to first line and senior managers in other departments.
• Excellent IT skills and aptitude, with experience of email, MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel to expert level.
• Experience of work with complex data base systems and of extracting, analysing and interpreting data to produce complex reports and presenting information to others.
• Experience of working collaboratively with colleagues in other teams and departments to achieve shared outcomes
