Is anyone involved in a Vanguard project - and if you are, what are the
practical implications?
From this they would seem to be considerable!

There are obviously implications for workload, organisation, budgets
(including GP practice budgets), IT and communications (Airedale
telemedicine for care homes has a team 'with access to the full patient
record': what records does this include apart from the GP one?) and support
for anyone not in a Vanguard (if Vanguards have preferential access to all
developments and support)
There is also a clear statement that the objective is to gather the
experience from the Vanguards so that it can be extended to other,
presumably as yet uninvolved areas.
So could I ask
If you are in a Vanguard project, were you consulted as a CCG Member (or in
any other capacity) before - or even after - the project was initiated?
Where did the initiative come from? CCG, acute or community Trust,
HealthWatch, local authority or anywhere else?
Has any thought been given to the consequences for the various organisations
involved - especially GP practices?
e.g. I'd agree that there will be a need (in many cases) for a new plan for
premises when care is moved into the community. Many (if not most) GP
practices are owned by the GP partners - and are having difficulty in
providing the space needed for current services, let alone any increased
services: the need to address premises funding is mentioned (alongside PFI):
it will be interesting to see what comes out of this. (DOI, *still* no
Dunstable Medical Centre - first planned in 1998!)
And as for the workforce planning...
Only 31 pages - and worth reading.
