Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Department of
Molecular & Cellular Biochemistry, University of Kentucky
(http://www.mc.uky.edu/biochemistry/). The successful candidates will
focus on structural and functional studies of the ESX (type VII)
secretion system of pathogenic mycobacteria.
The positions are available immediately and will be offered for 1 year
with the possibility of extension.
The candidates should have a recent PhD degree in Biochemistry,
Microbiology, Molecular Biology or related discipline and published at
least one research article in an international peer-reviewed journal
as the first author. The successful candidate should have practical
knowledge of in protein structure determination or standard
microbiological and molecular biological techniques (e.g. cloning,
genetic manipulation of bacteria, immunoprecipitation, protein
expression and purification etc.). Demonstrated expertise in one of
the following areas would be advantageous: molecular genetics of
mycobacteria; analysis of cell wall and peptidoglycan; expression and
purification of membrane proteins; biophysical analysis of
protein-protein interaction.
The application should include a CV and the names of three references.
