Dear All
At Leeds we give undergraduate students their marks following semester 1 assessments, stating that they are provisional until they have been ratified at the boards in June.
This has caused an issue with our exchange students who just study semester 1. Our policy is to provide the exchange students with a transcript of their marks to take back to their home university but stating clearly that the marks are provisional. Many of the universities award their finalists in May/June but as the finalised marks from us are not published until July it means that their award and graduation is being delayed. This has resulted in complaints.
I would be interested to hear from other Universities who do the same as Leeds, and I would also like to hear from you if you do anything differently.
For example; do you hold boards after semester 1 assessments and give students their finalised marks; or do you issue the marks as provisional but on the basis that they will not be changed and the June board is basically a rubber-stamp job?
Many thanks
Stephanie
