STATISTICAL TRAINING MANAGER
The MRC Unit, The Gambia is the Medical Research Council’s largest establishment conducting laboratory, field based and clinical research in a developing country.
We are looking for a Statistical Training Manager which is a key role in the Unit’s organization as statistical training is essential for the Unit’s scientific staff. The position will enhance the Unit’s profile by engaging young scientists and leading them through a scientific career path. This is an exciting full-time role that will involve developing and implementing a statistical training strategy.
The post holder will be based at MRC Fajara.
Essential
Master’s degree in applied statistics
Technical Training experience
Experience in Stata
Proficient in at least one other package, e.g. R or SAS
Knowledge of methodology behind common analysis techniques
Willingness to learn bio-informatics analyses
Willingness to deliver courses at all the MRC (Gambia) sites
Desirable
Programming experience in a major language, e.g. C or VB
Experience with major database systems such as SQL server, Sqlite or Access
Ability to write queries with SQL
Keen interest in developing an area of specialisation relevant to the Unit’s research
The post will be to 31st March 2016 extendable by mutual agreement.
An attractive salary will be paid in MRC’s Grade 2 – 30 points.
