Postdoctoral position available at Indiana University
A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Lyne Racette, PhD, at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, Indiana University.
Project description.
The long-term goal of this project is to improve the detection and monitoring of glaucoma progression. The project will develop parametric and non-parametric statistical methods, such as bootstrapping and permutation analysis to jointly use structural and functional data obtained in longitudinal clinical research studies. The project will build upon previous work in which we have developed a dynamic structure-function model for progression. The successful applicant will develop and implement methods to monitor glaucoma progression, will be expected to disseminate the findings at scientific meetings and in publications.
Qualifications.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or related field. Applicants with a strong background in computer science, applied mathematics or engineering are welcome to apply. Excellent programming skills are essential. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with the R environment for statistical programming and MATLAB, strong oral and written skills in English, and demonstrated productivity. Knowledge of glaucoma and dynamic models is desirable but not necessary.
Duration.
This is a full-time one-year position with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funds.
Starting date.
An immediate start date is preferred but can be negotiated. Review of applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. The annual stipend range is based on the NIH NRSA levels for fellows with 0 to 2 years of experience and will be determined based on qualifications and demonstrated productivity.
