The School of Geography, Politics and Sociology at Newcastle University seeks to appoint a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Economic Geography tenable from January 2016. Geography at Newcastle University includes the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) and aims to deliver world-leading, agenda setting, and societally engaged research and to apply this to our relevant and high quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes. We are open to applications from any area of economic geography broadly defined, but would particularly welcome applicants with interests in one or more of the following areas - cities and urban economies, digital and creative economies, finance, global production networks, emerging economies in the Global South, innovation and knowledge processes, labour geographies, the nature and practice of economic geography, quantitative spatial analysis and sustainability transitions. Appointees will be expected to make a contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and to undertake supervision of postgraduate students.
You will hold a good first degree and PhD in economic geography.
You will have the ability to engage in high quality research that commands international recognition as well as highly rated teaching skills.
