Hi Linda,
Manchester's own DMP Tool offers both funders' templates (mainly for RCUK funding councils) and our own 'generic' template. So like the DCC's tool, we've gathered a large selection of templates from funding bodies, and we've built them into web forms.
Our 'generic' Manchester template is for research projects that are funded by organisations who don't provide their own DMP template. Our generic template follows a similar framework of questions to many of the RCUK funders' templates, but also captures information that we need to help support and implement good data management practise at Manchester.
And our DMP Tool also features an 'Outline Plan' section which is separate to the main funding templates. This section captures other information about the data that will be acquired during the project, such as quantity, location, access, sharing and publishing which helps us plan our IT provision for managing the data.
My feeling is that if we were to move across to the DMP Online, we would still need to provide our own generic template, and we would still need a method of capturing the 'Outline Plan' information mentioned above.
Regards, Ben.

Hi everyone
Thank you very much for the replies. I like the idea of a single standard set of guidelines, if such a thing is possible, from the research councils in the UK.
It does look as if there is really only one tool in the UK but I would be interested why universities are giving their own templates rather than using DMPOnline?
Linda

There's also the DMP Editor: http://www.openmetadata.org/site/?page_id=373
GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences have some RDM questions for researchers to consider: http://www.gesis.org/fileadmin/upload/trainingcenter/images__documents/Research_data_management_questions.pdf
