We’re pleased to invite you to this free evening seminar on 22 July in central London:
* How politically engaged are the British public? Findings from British Social Attitudes *
This seminar will reflect on the level and extent of political engagement in Britain. Despite high turnout in the Scottish independence referendum, turnout at the general election was virtually the same as 5 years ago. With an EU referendum due to take place before the end of 2017, how might the public engage with this process?
The talk will cover:
• Trends in duty to vote
• Trust in government and politicians
• Levels of formal political participation
• Everyday engagement with politics
• Attitudes towards Britain’s place in Europe
Presenters Miranda Phillips and Ian Simpson are both Research Directors in the Social Attitudes team at NatCen Social Research.
Q&A to follow.
Come and join us on 22 July:
Venue: Defra, Smith Square, London SW1
Time: 4.45 to 6.30
Register on the SRA website: http://the-sra.org.uk/event-registration/?ee=276
