Dear all,
When a classic novel has been translated many times, trying to ascertain which might be the best translation can feel like a lot of work. Also, it is all too easy to get over-accustomed to whatever translation we first came across.
Here are a couple of well-argued recent reviews of Oliver Ready’s new translation, just published in the US by Penguin. This is certainly the version I now recommend to people myself. I very much hope that some of you will start using it with your students!
