Through the looking glass… and out again: researching practice as professional development
Becoming a professional musician or actor requires passion, creativity and craftsmanship, often linked with a curiosity about what you do. Come and join our doctoral students for a day where they discuss how their artistic curiosity has led to practice-based research and how this research contributes to their development as professionals. Topics to be considered:
• How doing practice-based research can act as a laboratory for your creative practice
• How to develop questions about what you do as a musician into research
• How research can be a tool to professional development
The day will consist of doctoral students presenting the issues and challenges of their own research and creative work followed by a discussion about the professional potential of research. There will be an opportunity to talk to students and staff about doing a research degree at the School.
