International Conference on Communication, Development and Human
Rights: social change and media flows

The International and Intercultural Communication Section of ECREA
presents its biannual international Conference on Communication,
Development and Human Rights: social change and media flows. The
two-days conference will discuss the role of media in international
(news) media flows, intercultural communication and communication for
development and social change. Therefore, the section invites
contributions from young and established scholars who are interested
in (but not limited to) the following broad areas of enquiry that are
related to the main conference theme:
- Global Communication: media flows and contra-flows
- Communication, human development and social change
- Global information and communication rights
- New media and social movements across borders
- Media for democracy and its interaction with international
regulation and policy
- Intercultural communication, diaspora, migrations and community media
- Global journalism, foreign news reporting and alternative (news) media
Paper proposals should consist of two MS Word documents: (1) a title
page stating the paper title, name of the author(s), short bio and
contact address, and (2) a blind extended abstract of maximum 500
words length, written in English or Spanish.
Paper proposals can be submitted by e-mail to
[log in to unmask] until 27 July 2015. Both ECREA members and
non-members can submit extended abstracts to the conference. All
papers proposals submitted will be subject to peer-review.
DEADLINES:
EXTENDED deadline for the submission of paper proposals: 27 July 2015
Paper acceptance will be communicated on 15 August 2015
Registration deadline: 30 September 2015
Final paper delivery: 14 October 2015
