Subject: [lis-e-resources] Reminder: Resource Discovery Day at Coventry
It’s not too late to book your place….
Discovery Tools for Health Libraries 2015 Resource Discovery tools are revolutionising the way users can search a variety of resources subscribed to by library services by offering a one-stop-shop interface. Resource discovery is widely used in academic libraries, but the health sector has only recently started taking its first steps in adopting such technologies.
To learn more and listen to some enthusiastic health librarians who have introduced them in their Trusts and Universities, please come to the first ever meeting aimed at health librarians on 11th September at the Clinical Sciences Building, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. As this meeting fulfils an important element of the resource discovery work stream of NHS Knowledge for Healthcare [K4H], you will get an opportunity to update yourself on the national strategy. This is a FREE event for all health librarians.
The day will give you an opportunity to:
• Discuss with Richard Osborn and the NICE team how these technologies relate to the national strategy and impact on the Resource Discovery Working Group that was set up following the publication of K4H.
• Listen to some innovative librarians and their experiences in implementing the tool within their organisations and a chance to network with other librarians.
• Take note of the presentations and demonstrations by the leading discovery tool suppliers in the UK and abroad.
• Question the experts in a panel discussion chaired by Richard Parker, Faculty Knowledge Manager, Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. Panel members comprise Stuart Glover, Nicola Healey, Richard Osborn, Marion Spring and Gavin Brindley.
Please register on http://tinyurl.com/healthdiscoverytools as spaces are limited.
