Subject: New MediaHub App Launched by EDINA
We are pleased to announce the launch of the new MediaHub iOS App, which enables users of the MediaHub service <http://jiscmediahub.ac.uk> to browse, search and save items on portable Apple devices.
The app is free and can be downloaded from the App Store: <https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/id962714442?mt=8>
It is aimed at MediaHub users based at subscribing universities or colleges who have access to iOS devices (an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad/iPad Mini).
Further details of the new app are on the MediaHub blog: <http://mediahub.blogs.edina.ac.uk/>
We are also building an Android app, which will be available later this year.
As the MediaHub App will be of most use away from laptops or desktop machines, rather than including the full range of functionality available on the web service, it has been designed to enable searching or browsing for content on the go. It can be used whilst commuting, filling time between lectures or meetings, or for times when great ideas come to mind – they can then be saved with items to look at or include in future presentations.
The app allows you to browse featured content and popular items, search for, preview and view content, mark favourite items for later use and share content.
An overview of the MediaHub app and how it works is available on YouTube:

To mark the release, we are also holding two short webinars on the app and how it can be used in teaching, learning or research. These webinars will take place on Tuesday 14 July at 12.30pm and Thursday 3 September at 10.30am. Go to <http://edina.ac.uk/events/> to sign up.
We welcome comments and feedback on the MediaHub app, and on any aspect of MediaHub. You may leave comments or ratings in the App Store; this will not only help us, but will also help other new users to find the app, decide whether it is the right choice for them, and get an idea of how it is being used by others.
