Here at the London Borough of Hounslow we have taken big steps towards becoming an intelligence-led organisation by creating an ‘Intelligence team’ to drive improvement and innovation. The Intelligence team brings together specialists in GIS and spatial information, health intelligence, and social research.

Our Street and Property Gazetteers are at the core of our ambitious plans for harnessing the potential of the Council’s data by joining it up and using this asset to deliver improved, seamless services to our residents. Because of this we are investing to ensure our Gazetteers are of the highest quality. This is a new role within the team, responsible for two key functions: maintaining and developing our Local Streets Gazetteer (LSG) and delivering an effective Street Naming and Numbering Service. The latter will provide an essential feed of quality information on new/changed properties in the borough to both the LSG and the Local Land and Property Gazetteer, ensuring these crucial databases are as up-to-date as possible.

If you are an experienced street gazetteer specialist looking for a new challenge with real opportunities, we’d love to hear from you. You will need to have practical experience of managing street gazetteer data, with excellent data management skills and a good understanding of the national framework and responsibilities that go with being a street gazetteer custodian. You will also need excellent interpersonal skills in order to establish a highly regarded Street Naming and Numbering Service, working with key customers and partners such as private property developers, Royal Mail, building control suppliers, and residents. You will also need the vision to help realise the potential of these crucial databases - both to help improve our services to the public and make efficiency savings.
