                      IEEE ISMAR 2015 Workshop on

          Collaboration in Mediated and Augmented Reality (CiMAR)

                   September 29, 2015  - Fukuoka, Japan

         (EXTENDED) Full paper submission deadline: July 10, 2015

          Position paper submission deadline: September 15, 2015

=========================================================================

The world is becoming more complex every day, so problem solving often

requires teams of experts to work together. To do this effectively there

is a need for face-to-face and remote collaborative tools, and a variety

of meeting support and telepresence technologies have been developed.

However most of them involve some variation of traditional video

conferencing or desktop tools, which are severely limited in their ability

to effectively convey spatial and collaborative cues. This workshop will

focus on how Augmented Reality (AR) and Mediated Reality (MR) technology

can overcome this and other limitations, making it possible to develop

radically new types of collaborative experiences.

With AR, virtual data is spatially overlaid on top of the real world,

allowing the flexibility of virtual reality to be used for collaboration

while being grounded in physical reality. In contrast, MR refers to the

ability to add to, subtract information from, or otherwise manipulate

one's perception of reality. In combination, AR and MR technologies could

be used to merge the shared perceived realities of different users as well

as enrich their own individual experience in a collaborative task.

This workshop addresses the above vision. Our goal is to bring together

researchers who are interested in developing face-to-face and remote

collaborative systems using AR and MR technologies. We will build a

picture of current and prior research on collaboration in AR and MR, as

well as set up a common research agenda for work going forward. This, in

turn, can be used to grow the research community.

==================

Topics of interest

==================

The workshop will address open research issues, including, but not limited

to:

- Case studies on using MR/AR for face-to-face or remote collaboration

- Tools for building collaborative MR/AR systems

- Effects of MR/AR on trust, presence, and coordination

- Interaction models for collaboration in MR/AR

- Tools for collaboration in MR/AR

- Collaboration awareness in MR/AR

- Methods for evaluating collaborative MR/AR systems

Submissions

===========

We will accept contributions in two different formats:

- Position papers, not exceeding 2 pages.

- Full papers, not exceeding 8 pages.

Position papers will be reviewed by the workshop organizers and on

acceptance be published on the workshop website. During the workshop,

position papers will be presented as short pitches. The submission

deadline for position papers is September 15 2015.

Full papers will be peer-reviewed and after acceptance be published in

IEEE Xplore. During the workshop, full papers will be presented as short

presentations. The deadline for submission of full papers is July 1, 2015.

Authors will be notified about acceptance of their papers on August 1,

2015. Camera-ready versions of full papers are due on August 10, 2015.

All contributions must be formatted using the paper templates available at:
