We are looking for a sample of archives to take part in the first of a series of engagement activities with contributors to Discovery<http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/>. We would be really keen to hear from you, particularly if you have an interest in resource discovery and work in an archive which makes its collections information available online or has aspirations to do so.
We are currently starting the next wave of development for Discovery. We would like to speak to you to enable us to better understand existing accessioning and cataloguing practice across the sector. This is so that we can gauge the needs and capacities around providing online access to this information.
We would like to invite responding archives to participate in telephone interviews.
Interviews will be split into several sections, with questions on a number of areas:
1) About you and your organisation
2) Cataloguing and accessioning - your methods and processes
3) Public facing service - who are your users and how do they use your services
4) Digitised material
5) Born digital material
Interviews will last approximately 30 minutes, depending on answers. The interview will only be used for internal research purposes and will be reported anonymously.
If you or one of your colleagues is interested in participating, please reply to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> and we can arrange a time to speak. We only need to talk to one person at each archive, so you may need to co-ordinate with a colleague if you need more information about a certain area.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email, we look forward to hearing from you. Please note that if we receive a large volume of responses we may not be able to speak to everyone.
Kind regards,
Jonathan Cates
