Applications are invited for the post of Reader/Professor in Biostatistics in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health. The successful applicant will be joining a vibrant and successful research department with a strong tradition of biostatistical and epidemiological research, and excellent epidemiological, cohort and computing resources. The School is world-leading in its field, coming joint top nationally in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), in the “Public Health, Health Services & Primary Care” Unit of Assessment.
The post holder will be based at the St Mary’s campus (Paddington, London) as part of the MRC-PHE Centre on Environment and Health hosted by the School, where they will be expected to lead the Biostatistics theme. The Centre is leading several high-profile international projects on the application of omics technologies to epidemiology.
We are looking for a candidate with vision and drive, with an established international reputation and a well-attested record of high impact research and expertise in this field of research. The appointee will have a proven track record of grant awards and high-impact publications, with particular emphasis on the analysis of complex, high-dimensional data including omics data.
The appointee must have a higher degree in a relevant research area (MD, MS, PhD or equivalent); experience of training undergraduate and postgraduate students; and experience of supervision of higher degrees (PhD, MD(Res)). Evidence of management and administration experience would be desirable.
This is a full time, open ended post.
