Following a successful application to the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Dorset History Centre (DHC) is embarking on a 3 year project to catalogue the archive and tell the story of the Bankes family of Kingston Lacy and Corfe Castle. The collection consists of 800 boxes of material spanning 700 years of Dorset history and contains elements that are of national and international importance. The project will catalogue, preserve and digitise this important resource, leading to a series of outreach and learning activities which form an integral part of the project.
A project team is being recruited to deliver the programme which will be managed through DHC. Project staff will work closely with the service's permanent staff and the project partners to deliver the project outcomes.
Archives Services Officer, fixed term until September 2017: £22,937 - £27,123
This post is a 2 year fixed term contract to catalogue the Bankes archive. This is a large collection which will require working with volunteers, project and permanent staff at the Dorset History Centre. It will be necessary to identify areas of the collection requiring conservation work and those suitable for digitisation by the Project Technician.
Project & Engagement Officer, fixed term until September 2018: £22,937 - £27,123
This post is a 3 year fixed term contract to manage the delivery of much of the project activities and will be the principal liaison link to the project partners; the National Trust and the Priest's House Museum, Wimborne.
