Deadline July 30 2015
Full Time - 3 years in the first instance.
Salary Range: £33,242 - £37,394
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in
genetic epidemiology and biostatistics to make a leading contribution to
an MRC Stratified Medicine project that plans to study ancestry and
metabolomic markers in predicting antihypertensive drug response and
stratification of hypertension. The AIM-HY project is a multi-site
collaboration (King's College London and Glasgow University are the two
main centres) investigating the genetic and metabolic risk factors
relevant to determining appropriate therapy for hypertension. The
project is funded by the MRC Stratified Medicine initiative. An
important component of this project will be the evaluation of
genetically determined ancestry (GDA) and metabolomic markers as
predictors of treatment response. This will be evaluated first in
existing data from previous large-scale studies of antihypertensive
treatment response, and then in a randomised clinical trial that will be
conducted as part of the project. The post-holder will conduct, manage
and publish research as well as assist in managing and directing this
complex and challenging project. The candidate will have good
communication skills and will liaise with collaborators across the UK
and USA to ensure the project milestones are achieved.
