Hi everyone,
I am pleased to announce that we have a vacancy for a Mathematics Masterclass Coordinator in our Masterclass Team at the Royal Institution in London. It is a great team to be part of, and is a really rewarding and exciting position.
Royal Institution Mathematics Masterclasses are designed to encourage students to think more deeply about the subject, allowing them to explore topics and applications beyond the curriculum and gain an insight into the art, practice and real-world value of mathematics. The highly interactive sessions are run in series of at least six Saturday morning workshops for mathematically talented and enthusiastic students, all nominated from schools across the catchment area. Each class is delivered by an expert mathematician from academia, industry or teaching who has worked with us to develop a Masterclass based on their area of work or interest. For more information please see our website: www.rigb.org/masterclasses.
The Mathematics Masterclass Coordinator will have particular responsibility for administering and coordinating our Secondary Mathematics Masterclasses in the Greater London area, supporting Masterclass groups and speakers and assisting with mathematics events for the Ri's Science for Schools and Public programmes. We are looking for someone who is excited at bringing maths alive for young people. With some experience of STEM engagement, the successful candidate will be able to share your enthusiasm for maths with a variety of stakeholders, including volunteers, teachers and of course young people.
The post is based at the Royal Institution in London and is permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) with a salary in Band 3 Points 13-16 (£25,423 - £29,415 per annum). The successful candidate will be ideally be available to commence employment by Monday 17th August 2015 in order to complete a 2-week induction period prior to the departure of the current incumbent. Please see http://rigb.org/about/work-with-us/jobs/london-mathematics-masterclass-coordinator for more information, including the full job description.
