The result of the first Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) funded science project has been published today:
https://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/projects/science-oxford/
The Thinking, Doing, Talking Science programme aimed to make primary science more creative, practical and conceptually challenging, with teachers attending five CPD days over one year.
The programme was tested through a randomised controlled trial and pupils receiving the intervention saw their science scores increase by three additional months. The positive effects of the programme look to be particularly pronounced for disadvantaged students and girls. Attitudes towards science improved too with half of pupils reporting they found science lessons interesting, compared with 37% of pupils who were not involved in the intervention.
I hope you find the report interesting, do let me know if you have any questions.
Best wishes,
Emily
